Robert Leigh Pruitt, II provides leadership training, motivational speaking, workshops and seminars
throughout the United States and internationally. In the last year alone,
Robert provided Diversity Training for Maryland Police & Correctional
Training Commission, Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy,
The Metro Transit Police, Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and
Cape Henry Collegiate School. He has been an outspoken social activist
and was recently interviewed by the Fox 5 News team in Washington, D.C.
on the issue of racism and the police.
In
addition to delivering keynote addresses for a wide variety of organizations
each year, Robert provides experiential leadership training, conflict
resolution training and consulting services for national and international
business and organizations. In July he provided a keynote and conducted
a leadership-training for Operation Smile in Limerick, Ireland. Similarly,
in 2004, he conducted leadership-training seminars for the Shahi Export
House employees in New Delhi and Bangalore, India. For the past several
years, Robert has conducted race and diversity training for the Maryland
Criminal Justice Association, Montgomery County Department of Police,
and Bladensburg Police Department and in 2003 conducted similar workshops
on race and diversity in the police service to the attendees of the
Holly Royde conference of the Police Leadership and Powers Unit in the
United Kingdom. This November, Robert will speak as an expert on leadership
at an international conference on education in Zaire, Africa.
His client family also includes community organizations
such as The After-School Institute, The American Society on Aging, NeighborCare,
Mayors Office of Employment Development, the FBI National Academy Associates,
The Workforce Institute, The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation,
and the New Carrolton (Md.) Chapter of Blacks in Government. This is
in addition to his work with high school students through the National
Student Leadership Conference, The International Student Leadership
Conference, United Minds and ADD Student Leadership Conference and his
trips to individual high schools and colleges throughout the United
States. Pruitt is continually called upon to serve Congressmen Bobby
Rush (IL) and will serve a faculty for noted author and television personality
Iyanla Vanzant.
Pruitt—an informal educator and trainer since
1985—specializes in the development of programs that provide youth
and adults an opportunity for extraordinary personal growth. His focus
on authenticity supports others in recognizing their innate leadership
potential. He seeks to empower everyone with the understanding that
they are to share the gift they are with the world (1 Peter 4:10). Pruitt’s
focus on diversity training began in 1991 while asked to create a diversity
training program for the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
He has authored several books including Out of the
Box (April 2007), Leadership & Advocacy in Pharmacy (March 2007),
Understanding Male Power and Its Role in Relationships for the National
Basketball Association and African American Males in School and Society.
He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs including
The Audrey Chapman Show on WHUR-FM 96.3, Washington D.C. and The Beverly
Smith Show on WAMO-FM105, Pittsburgh, Pa. He is a regular guest on Yolanda
Gaskins program Love and Money on XM Satellite Radio and Radio One (Washington,
D.C./Baltimore).
Robert is the son of the
late Bishop Robert L. Pruitt, 103rd Bishop of the African Methodist
Episcopal Church (AMEC) and Lola Boxley, 24-year-veteran teacher of
the D.C. Public Schools.
